Mrs. Ella Mae
Styers
December 31, 1937 – April 23, 2026
Ella Mae Simmons Styers, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 23rd, at the age of 88. Surrounded by the love of her three daughters, Ella’s final moments reflected the warmth and devotion that defined her life.
She was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina, to Joseph and Etta Simmons. She was an active member of Crestwood Baptist Church, where she joyfully taught Sunday School and sang in the choir until her health no longer permitted. Her service, kindness, and deep faith left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Ella retired from Hanes Hosiery, where she was respected for her dedication and work ethic. Outside of her professional and church life, she was known for her infectious laughter, her ever-present concern for the weather, and, above all, her unwavering love for Jesus and her family.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Arnold Styers Jr., her parents, her brother Donald Blackburn, and her grandson Matthew Nations. Ella’s legacy lives on through her devoted daughters: Barbara Atwood (Dennis), Donna Smith (Jack), and Yvonne Nations (Alan); her seven grandchildren: Molly Parks, Danielle Eshleman, Hannah Knight, Philip Nations, Caleb Nations, Matthew Smith, and Sarah Serraro; and her great-grandchildren: Bailey Parks, Ella Messick, Reagan Knight, Addison Parks, Savannah Parks, Genevieve Serraro (Evie), Madelyn Knight, Sawyer Eshleman, Lincoln Eshleman, and Lila Smith.
Ella’s spirit will be remembered for generations—a beacon of faith, laughter, and unconditional love. She touched countless lives and leaves behind a family and community grateful for the many years they shared with her.
We ask that you please keep the Styers family lifted in your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.
