Jerry Lewis Hooper Jr.
July 24, 1974 – September 22, 2026
Jerry Lewis Hooper Jr., affectionately known to family and friends as “Hoop,” passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the age of 52.
Jerry was raised in the local community. He was the son of the late Jerry Hooper Sr. and the late Joanne Clanton. He attended East Forsyth High School, where he was a standout athlete on the football team and a proud member of the 1992 State Championship team.
Following high school, Jerry worked for Ansco before his health began to decline.
Outside of work, Hoop was known for his vibrant personality, his quick wit, and his infectious laughter. He was an avid sports enthusiast. He spent many autumn days passionately cheering on Duke University basketball and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also found immense joy in music and was widely recognized among friends and family for his sharp creativity and spirit in competitive rap battles. Above all, Hoop cherished time spent in fellowship with those he loved.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Hooper Sr., mother Joanne Clanton, grandfather Sammie Murray, grandmother Elizabeth Holman Murray, aunt Sandra Murray, and mother-in-law Sarah Reed.
He leaves to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy his devoted wife for twenty two years Anna Reed Hooper. His beloved children, Jashaun Simon, Isaiah Stubblefield, Trey Smith, and Jerrica Hooper. Along with his caring great-aunt Maggie Ruth Hall, his aunts Mary Ann Murray and Sheryl Murray, his sister in-laws Berlinda Little and Deltra Little, brothers-in-laws Morris Little (wife: Henrietta), Soloman Reid, and Stanley Little along with a host of extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.
Though his presence will be deeply missed, Jerry’s memory will forever remain a blessing to all who that knew and loved him.
In time of grief, his family finds comfort in Scripture: The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:1
