Obituary

Herman Ray Friday, affectionately known as "Oooch," was a loving husband

father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose laughter and stories

filled every room with joy. He was known for his incredible work ethic,

dedication to family, hilarious personality, and his unforgettable storytelling

Herman was a 1960 graduate of Dunbar High School in Lexington, NC. He

retired from Dixie Furniture after 30- years of faithful service. He enjoyed

watching football, spending time with friends, and simply having a good

time with those he loved. Above all else, he deeply loved his wife Jessie Mae

and his daughter Wanda "Bookie" Friday.

For 64 beautiful years, Herman shared a loving marriage with Jessie Mae

Friday. Their bond was a shining example of commitment, loyalty, and love.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his beloved wife, Jessie Mae

Friday; one daughter, Wanda Elaine Friday "Bookie"; grandchildren,

Shuntorrah Shunmoneke and Steven Stevonce (Maria) Friday; one great-

grandson, Aydin Rorie Friday; siblings Bettie Mae Sturdivant, James

"Jimmy" (Diane) Friday, Teresa Friday, and Mark Kevin Friday, four aunts:

Adelaid Talbert, Carrie Poole, Ann Davis and Mary Montgomery along with

a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Herman was preceded in death by his parents, James Earl Friday, Evelyn

Anthony Friday, and his siblings Herbert Friday, Sharon Friday, and Evelyn

"Ree" Friday.

Though he will be greatly missed, his love, laughter, wisdom, and memories

will remain in our hearts forever.

During this season of bereavement, we ask that you continue to keep the Friday family lifted in your thoughts and prayers. May God’s unfailing love, grace, and peace surround them and provide strength in the days ahead.
